Are you teaching a little one to read?
Using CVC Words phonics to teach your child to read, is the first step to making them independent readers.
What are CVC Words?
A CVC word is a word that is made up of a consonant, vowel and consonant sound.
Cat, hot, tip, man and hut are all CVC words.
CVC words can help build kids confidence in reading.
For children to start reading, they should first understand the sounds of each letter in the given word.
This app is here to help them all along the way.
It will teach them individual sounds a word is made up of…

The words in the app are levelled as per phonics standards.
The second step is blending of words. Blending is the process of saying the individual sounds in a word, then running them together to make the word. For example: sounding out /b/-/a/-/t/ making bat. It is a technique every child will need to learn and it improves with practice.

This is one of the best apps I have found to help my 5 year old learn to read. It is nearly perfect. However, I do not think the use of a gun ( complete with picture) is appropriate. We are a military family so for us its not a political issue. We dont want to desensitize our children to handguns. PLEASE REMOVE the word GUN from the words used in this app.
My daughter likes the game but I dont like the automated voice that reads the words. It does not sound personalized and it is difficult for my daughter to understand what is being said, unless I read it to her. Also, if possible, please change the response for wrong answers. Its negative; something like, "Oops! Try again," would be better.
Voices are mechanical & can be difficult to understand. Ap doesnt work consistently on new iPad. Graphics could be updated.
